The BCA is pleased to call for the nomination of candidates for the 2026 Edition of the African Woman In Badminton Awards (AWIBA) to be awarded during the BCA AGM in Horsens, Denmark, on the 23th April 2026.
Introduced in 2018 in recognition of the existing Badminton participation disparity between Women and Men in Africa, the Award seeks to:
- To reward outstanding women who have contributed to the development of badminton in Africa by demonstrating irreproachable attitude and dedication to the sport in their respective fields (player/administrator/technical official/official/coach and other roles) for the current and/or previous years.
- To motivate women to get involved in badminton – whether in Africa or elsewhere.
- To create role models for other women (and men).
- To celebrate the achievements of African women in badminton.
Who can Nominate?
The following Bodies can nominate candidates for AWIBA:
- African Member Associations.
- BCA Athletes Commission.
- BCA Technical Official Commission.
- BCA Women in Badminton Commission.
The winner of the AWIBA shall receive the Award and also be funded to deliver a women-only activity in her country. This is to recognize their achievement but also contributes directly to the growth of women’s participation in badminton in the country.
