Para Badminton will feature for the first time in Tokyo Paralympics Games 2020.

Uganda was the first country to represent Africa in the World Para Badminton Championships in 2014

The are six different classes in Para Badminton

  • WH1
  • WH2
  • SL3
  • SL4
  • SU5
  • SH6

The first All Africa Para Badminton Championships was held in Uganda in Feb 2018 – next edition in 2020(country to be decided in 2019).

Badminton is a sport for all, an accessible sport for boys and girls, men and women and for people with a physical impairment. Badminton is a sport for everyone. BWF is responsible for regulating, promoting and developing para-badminton globally.

BCA shares the same concept with BWF that is to promote a “one sport – one team” philosophy – badminton and para-badminton together.

Main Focus

To regulate, promote and develop the sport globally. This is achieved through partnerships with the BWF, National Paralympic Committees and organisations who support sport for people with a physical impairment.
