In a highly anticipated event for badminton enthusiasts across the continent, the All-Africa Senior Badminton Championships is set to unfold at the Cairo National Complex from 12th to 18th February. This edition brings a new twist to the competition compared to the last edition in 2023, adopting the Thomas and Uber Cup format for the Team Event, where boys and girls will compete separately.
In this year’s edition, the All-Africa Senior Badminton Championships is embracing the Thomas and Uber Cup format for the Team Event. This format is an exciting dynamic structure, allowing both boys and girls to showcase their prowess independently. The tournament promises a thrilling spectacle as teams compete fiercely to secure their spots in the prestigious finals.
In the previous two editions, the Algerian Boys team emerged as Africa’s representatives at the Thomas Cup Finals (2020 and 2022). Their exceptional performances showcased the strength of badminton talent on the continent. Regarding the Uber Cup front, Egypt carried the African flag in 2020 and 2022, respectively. The upcoming championships hold the promise of new contenders emerging and reshaping the landscape of African badminton at the higher level.

Her dynamic playing style and consistency on the court make her a player to watch as she strives for further success in the upcoming championships and will be leading Team Uganda in the Uber Cup. All eyes will also be on Kate Foo Kune from Mauritius. A former African Champion and currently ranked 1st in the Road to Paris 2024, Kate is an experienced player who made a powerful comeback last year by winning few medals in the BWF and BCA circuit tournaments.
