In a moment of pride and celebration, the Tunisia Badminton Federation has been honoured with the Africa Shuttle Time Award 2024, a prestigious recognition presented by the Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA). The announcement was made during the BCA and BWF Annual General Meetings (AGM) 2025, held in Xiamen, China.
This award shines a spotlight on Tunisia’s outstanding efforts to promote badminton at the grassroots level through the Shuttle Time programme. Shuttle Time, developed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), is an international programme designed to make badminton accessible and enjoyable for children in schools across the globe.
Tunisia has shown remarkable commitment and innovation in rolling out this programme across the country. From training schoolteachers to organising school competitions and engaging young children in a fun and educational way, the Tunisia Badminton Federation has made strong and lasting progress.
Speaking about this achievement, Mr. Raouf Sioud, President of the Tunisia Badminton Federation, expressed his joy:
“I am very happy to be winning this prestigious award by the BCA. This demonstrates that Tunisia is working relentlessly towards a better future and especially we are developing this beautiful sport. We are also very grateful to the Badminton Confederation Africa and Badminton World Federation for the continued support and trust. We have said that we want to change the dynamics of badminton in Tunisia, and we are doing it gradually. We really hope to continue on this path as we want Tunisia to be among the very best in Africa and we believe that we will achieve it.”
This award recognises not only the hard work of the federation but also the dedication of the many educators, volunteers, and leaders who are driving the sport forward in Tunisia. Their combined efforts have led to increased badminton activities in schools, new training opportunities for coaches, and more chances for children to play and enjoy the sport.
The BCA congratulated Tunisia for being an inspiration to other nations in Africa. The Tunisia Badminton Federation is a perfect example of how sports, when properly supported and implemented, can change lives and unite communities.
Tunisia’s success story shows how investing in youth, education, and local leadership can create a strong foundation for the future. The Federation’s vision is clear, to make badminton one of the most popular and accessible sports in Tunisia, and to produce future champions who will represent the nation with pride.
As we look ahead, the BCA stands ready to continue supporting Tunisia and other Member Associations in spreading the joy of badminton. With passion, dedication, and teamwork, great things are possible.
Congratulations once again to Tunisia!
This is only the beginning of a bright and promising journey.
