Shuttle Time Teacher, Badminton Federation of Namibia
I grew up in a close-knit community where family and teamwork were always prioritised. From a poor rural area, I came to Oranjemund at the age of 15 to attend high school.
I first saw badminton in 2018 when I moved to Oranjemund. One day I joined my friends for a “Friend and I” competition and that’s where I got to experience badminton first. It struck me as a sport which was fun and helped me make new friends.
Relationship With Badminton
My relationship with badminton has grown over the years. It has now become a passion, and I’ve become more serious about my improving my skills. My most memorable moment was beating a long-time player for the first time in a match.
What Badminton Means
It’s a fun, friendly sport that can also give you a deep sense of well-being. It is social and it engages your brain. You learn to trust your partner and learn from your mistakes. I’m capable of handling any situation with thoughtfulness and maturity.
Impact of Shuttle Time
Since Shuttle Time started, a greater number of people have joined badminton and are willing to learn. The programme helps people of all ages and abilities to develop badminton skills.
