Shuttle Time Teacher, Teachers Association in Toamasina Madagascar
Growing Up Years
As a child, I lived in a world of sports. I played many sports such as football, basketball, handball and volleyball in my childhood, but I didn’t know about badminton at that time.
Social life involved taking on a role in community duties. For example, mobilising children, youth, and women’s organisations to hold sports competitions at the community level, as well as training young people to be sports promoters.
First Experience of Badminton
I first discovered Badminton in 2022 at a training course organised by the Malagasy Badminton Federation in Toamasina, and that’s when I fell in love with the sport. Now I’m spreading it throughout schools in Toamasina, because I enjoy teaching badminton.
What surprised me about my first badminton lesson was the equipment used, such as the shuttlecock, and how easy it was to learn and teach. There was also the lightness of the racket.
Relationship with Badminton
After the training provided by the Malagasy Badminton Federation, I taught at several schools in Toamasina, and I also teach my family.
I’ll never forget the first time I used a racket and shuttlecock. Another memory is of the first time I taught badminton in school, and the joy of the students.
What Badminton Means
For me, badminton is a discipline that opens up the mind and helps us focus. Badminton is a sport develops one’s knowledge. Badminton is a fun sport because it can be played by the whole family.
What distinguishes it from other sports and games is the equipment used, such as a lightweight racket and a shuttlecock. Badminton can be played indoors or outdoors, and can also be played on the beach.
Impact of Shuttle Time
The development of Shuttle Time in our area has made many public and private schools love badminton. While it was previously not taught, now it seems that students are very happy because they have discovered something new.
The biggest lesson I learned from Shuttle Time was the experience of badminton, and how I was able to share that knowledge with others so that they could easily absorb it.
