Xiamen, CHINA –Yonex is honored to support the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) through a new equipment agreement designed to empower athletes and communities across the continent. This agreement represents an important step in supporting the development of badminton across Africa. Through this partnership, BCA and Yonex aim to grow badminton in Africa by working together and creating new opportunities.
The momentum of this partnership was celebrated during an official signing ceremony held on April 23, 2025, in Xiamen, China, before the BWF Annual General Meeting. The event brought together leading figures from the badminton world, including senior representatives from both BCA and Yonex, as well as presidents from national badminton associations across Africa—underscoring the significance of this agreement for the continent’s sporting future.
With this shared platform, both BCA and Yonex reaffirm their long-term vision: to nurture the growth of badminton in regions where the sport is still taking root and ensure the sport is accessible to all. Central to this effort will be close collaboration with national federations across Africa.
As part of this initiative, Yonex will collaborate closely with national federations across Africa to provide essential equipment, support local tournaments, and cultivate emerging talent. This effort will begin with the supply of shuttlecocks for BCA-sanctioned events across the continent, laying a strong foundation for long-term partnership and growth.
Another key focus of the partnership is providing promising African athletes with opportunities to train at an academy operated by badminton legend, Peter Gade. This exposure to world-class training and facilities offers young athletes the chance to hone their skills in a world-class environment.
In addition, BCA and Yonex aim to launch programs in cooperation with national associations to introduce badminton to children who may not otherwise have access. Through these grassroot programs, held in partnership with schools and communities, the initiative seeks to spark interest in badminton and sports as a whole, especially among youth in underrepresented regions.
