As part of badminton development in Togo, the Togolese Badminton Federation organised a Shuttle Time tutors and teachers training programme from 31 March to 4 April 2026, in Lomé.
This initiative strengthened the capacities of 17 tutors from various regions of the country and 15 teachers from Lome, with the main objective of standardising badminton teaching in schools.
Through an adapted and interactive approach, participants are now able to effectively teach badminton and train new teachers, contributing to the sustainable expansion of sport nationwide.
Reaching Out
Thirty-two Physical Education teachers (20 men and 12 women) participated in a dual training programme for PE teachers and sports instructors under the Shuttle Time programme.
This activity sought to train tutors who are capable of effectively training teachers in the Shuttle Time programme, ensuring the development of badminton in schools and local communities.
Among the primary aims was to develop grassroots badminton in Togo; strengthen the capacity of teachers and instructors to promote a positive image of badminton within PE programmes — where it is now officially integrated; and ensure nationwide coverage of the Shuttle Time programme.

Methodology
The training was conducted through both theoretical and practical sessions, led by certified Shuttle Time trainers.
Participants were trained on:
- Basic badminton technique
- Teaching methodologies adapted to school environments
- Integration of badminton into the educational system
Response and Impact
Participants showed strong engagement and expressed high satisfaction with the quality of the training. Seventeen new tutors from the six educational regions of Togo were trained. The activity helped strengthen the national network of trainers while ensuring progressive adaptation of badminton teaching in schools.
Takassi Kikpa Tikoyabe, President of Togolese Badminton Federation, said: “Shuttle Time is a key driver for the development of badminton in Togo. It enables the training of educators who can effectively pass on badminton skills and values to the younger generation.”
