The stage is set for the All Africa Senior Championships 2025, one of the biggest events on the Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA) calendar. The tournament will take place in Douala, Cameroon, from 10 to 16 February 2025. This year’s championship holds even greater significance as it also serves as the qualification tournament for the Sudirman Cup Finals, one of the most prestigious mixed team events in the world. The team event will be played following the Sudirman Cup format, adding extra excitement to the competition.
The last edition of the All Africa Senior Championships, held in South Africa in 2023, delivered some unforgettable moments. Egypt emerged as the Team Event Champions after an intense final against Mauritius. Mauritius took an early 2-0 lead, and it seemed like victory was within their grasp. However, Egypt made a remarkable comeback, winning the next three matches to clinch the title in a thrilling showdown.

This year, teams are returning with renewed energy and determination. Egypt will be looking to defend their crown, but the competition will be fierce. Mauritius is eager for revenge, hoping to turn the tables after their narrow defeat in the last edition. Algeria, known for its strong performances, especially in the Thomas Cup format, will also be a major contender. In fact, Mauritius secured a silver medal in the previous Sudirman Cup format, showing their strength in mixed team events. Algeria, with its impressive track record, is determined to shift the balance and aim for the title this time around.
The Team Event will feature 12 countries:
Algeria, Cameroon, DR Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Madagascar, Mauritius, Nigeria, Reunion, South Africa, Uganda, and Zambia.
Each team brings its own strengths, with star players ready to shine on the big stage. Egypt’s solid lineup and team spirit make them favorites, but Mauritius, with its experienced athletes, and Algeria, with its tactical edge, are strong challengers. Teams like South Africa and Nigeria are also expected to put up a strong fight, adding more excitement to the competition.
In the Individual Events, we will see players from 16 countries, including:
Algeria, Cameroon, DR Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ghana, Kenya (Ind), Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco (Ind), Nigeria, Reunion, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
