8 participants from 4 different countries, namely Lesotho, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe attended the BWF level 1 Coaching Course, organized by the Badminton Conferedation Africa (BCA) during one whole week in Beira, Mozambique. The course, which is a BWF certificated course, was held from the 1st to the 8th of October 2019. Administered by the BCA , this BWF Level 1 Coaching Course plans to increase capacity and assist member association to train more technicians for the development of badminton in Africa.
The BCA chose Beira to promote badminton, by starting the BWF Level 1 Coaching Course, simultaneously helping to overcome the difficult conditions that the region faced during cyclone Idai by inculcating and empowering the society via sports. The BCA conducted course, saw the participation of Maleshoane Matlanyane , from Lesotho. “My expectations about the course are to improve my skills in the sport, to establish teams in my home country , and make the sports popular”, he said.
The BWF level 1 Coaching Course included sessions about coaches role and responsibilities, coaching principles , performance factors , basic badminton technique , physical fitness components, technical skills including racket and movement skills. The BCA instructors, namely Mr. Annirao Dajee was assisted by Mr. Bernadin Bokpe and Dr. Ahmed Reda focused on team work among the participants during the Coaching Course.
