World Badminton Day Celebration – President Bau Speech
The World Badminton Day is an annual celebration that allows us to showcase our unwavering passion for the sport to the global community. It’s a day where badminton enthusiasts come together and demonstrate their commitment to this wonderful sport. The BWF initiated this event last year, and it has been gaining momentum ever since.
This year, the Badminton Confederation Africa organized a unique event under the theme of “Inclusion in Action during the World Badminton Day.” Our focus was to promote inclusivity and bring together disabled and abled children, including those who are deaf and participating in the Special Olympics. We invited kids from various clubs and schools here in Kampala, Uganda.
Our objective was to demonstrate how we can implement inclusion in our sport. To achieve this, we organized a series of Shuttle Time fun activities, which allowed these children to engage and enjoy the games without any reservations or limitations. It was truly heartwarming to witness their enthusiasm and the positive outcomes we achieved. We aim to continue promoting inclusivity and ensure that every child has the opportunity to play badminton throughout their lives.
I would like to express my gratitude to the (BWF) for their innovative approach in establishing World Badminton Day. Their support and guidance have been invaluable in making this celebration a global success. I would also like to extend my thanks to UBA and all the stakeholders who have been involved with us in achieving our vision of inclusivity. Without their dedication and collaboration, this event would not have been possible.
