The All Africa Senior Championships Individual Finals in Douala, Cameroon came to an inspiring conclusion at the Japoma Gymnasium, with impressive performances and unforgettable moments. The final day was packed with intense matches, but all eyes were on the Women’s Singles Final, where two Egyptian stars battled for the title.
Women’s Singles Final – A New Champion is Crowned!
It was an Egypt vs. Egypt showdown between Doha Hany and Nour Ahmed Youssri, two of the best women’s badminton players on the continent. Both had fought hard to reach this stage, but there could only be one champion!
From the very first point, Nour Ahmed Youssri dominated the match. She played with great speed, accuracy, and confidence, forcing Doha Hany to make mistakes. Nour controlled the rallies, attacking at the right moments and keeping her opponent under constant pressure.
- In the first game, Nour was unstoppable! She quickly built a big lead and won the game 21-7.
- In the second game, Doha tried to fight back and played better, but Nour stayed strong and won 21-14.
With this victory, Nour Ahmed Youssri is now the Women’s Singles Champion of Africa!
Men’s Singles – Nigeria’s Opeyori Wins Again! 🇳🇬
In the Men’s Singles Final, Egypt’s Adham Hatem Elgamal faced Nigeria’s Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori in a tough battle.
- Opeyori started strong, winning the first game 21-7.
- In the second game, Adham fought hard and almost took it to a third game, but Opeyori stayed calm under pressure and won 23-21.
This win makes Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori the Men’s Singles Champion of Africa again by clinching the title for a 5th Consecutive time and a record of 7th Men’s Singles Titles!
Unfortunately, Adham injured himself during the match, which later forced him to withdraw from the Mixed Doubles Final.
Men’s Doubles – Algeria Takes the Title! 🇩🇿
Algeria’s Koceila Mammeri & Youcef Sabri Medel faced Mauritius’s Jean Bernard Bongout & Georges Julien Paul in the Men’s Doubles Final.
- The match started close, but the Algerian pair kept their focus and won the first game 21-19.
- In the second game, they completely dominated, winning 21-9!
This victory made Mammeri & Medel the African Champions in Men’s Doubles again after their last title in Egypt in 2024!
Women’s Doubles – South Africa Wins Gold! 🇿🇦
The Women’s Doubles Final was between South Africa’s Amy Ackerman & Johanita Scholtz and Algeria’s Yasmina Chibah & Linda Mazri.
- The first game was extremely close, with both teams fighting hard. In the end, the South Africans won 24-22.
- In the second game, Ackerman & Scholtz took full control and won easily 21-10!
With this, South Africa celebrated a Women’s Doubles Championship retaining their supremacy in this event!
Mixed Doubles – Algeria Wins by Walkover 🇩🇿
Algeria’s Koceila Mammeri & Tanina Violette Mammeri were set to face Egypt’s Adham Hatem Elgamal & Doha Hany in the Mixed Doubles Final.
However, because Adham was injured in the Men’s Singles Final, he was unable to play, so Algeria won by walkover.
