We have the pleasure to inform you that the All Africa Senior Championships 2021 will now be held in Kampala, Uganda from 23 to 30 September 2021. Following approval of the BWF, we can also confirm that the tournaments will carry BWF World Ranking points.
Initially scheduled to take place in South Africa, the championships had to be postponed due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation there. Despite all the efforts of Badminton South Africa, we jointly agreed that it would be in the interest of all and for the safety of all players and their entourage to postpone the championships.
Nonetheless, South Africa will host the 2022 edition of the All Africa Senior Championships – the exact dates will be communicated at a later stage.
Regarding the All Africa Senior Championships 2021, we are assiduously engaged with the host (Uganda Badminton Association – UBA) to prepare and plan a safe tournament. BCA and UBA, with the support of their national authorities, will put in place a safe ‘bubble’ for the efficient and sanitary delivery of the championships. We shall provide all relevant information, to all members, in the coming weeks.
