POSTPONEMENT OF THE ALL AFRICA UNDER 15 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SENEGAL
I hope this message finds you all well. After close consultations with the Senegal Badminton Federation, the Local Organizing Committee of the All Africa Under 15 Championships in Senegal, and the local authorities in Senegal, the BCA Council has made the decision to postpone the All Africa Under 15 Championships. The championships were originally scheduled to take place from the 14th to the 20th of August 2023 but will now be held from the 26th of October to the 5th of November 2023. This decision has been necessitated by the unfortunate political unrest in Senegal, which has resulted in loss of life and significant damage to property.
The Government of Senegal, through the Ministry of Sports, has officially advised the Senegalese Badminton Federation that the prevailing political uncertainties make it impractical to host the championships in August. Considering this advice, and with the utmost concern for the safety and well-being of all participants, the BCA Council believes that rescheduling the event to late October and early November is the most prudent course of action. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences caused by this change and we will keep monitoring the situation in Senegal.
